    HIGH-SPEED RAIL COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSES
    IN ROSEMEAD AND ALHAMBRA
Project Updates, Alignments Options, Station Locations and Design Options to be Presented

ROSEMEAD, CA – The California High-Speed Rail Authority is hosting two community open houses to provide residents and businesses along the I-10 Freeway with an opportunity to meet with Authority consultants and project engineers working on the Los Angeles to San Diego via the Inland Empire section of the system.

Community forums such as these are part of a multi-year process to gather feedback, provide information and engage the community about California’s high-speed rail system. A presentation will be made at each open house to provide information about the route and design options being studied in the San Gabriel Valley portion of the Los Angeles to San Diego segment. The presentations will be facilitated by Jose Martinez, Los Angeles to San Diego Regional Program Manager with Cordoba Corporation.

The Rosemead Community Open House is scheduled to take place 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, with a presentation at 7:00 p.m. , at the Rosemead Community Recreation Center,  3936 Muscatel Ave., Rosemead.

The Alhambra Community Open House is scheduled to take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 28, with a presentation at 5:30 p.m., at  Alhambra City Hall Lobby,  111 S. First St., Alhambra.

“It is a top priority for us to actively engage communities along the Los Angeles-to-San Diego route in the project from the early stages – the designs and plans for California’s high-speed rail system will benefit greatly from early community input and participation,” said Jeff Barker, California High-Speed Rail Authority Deputy Executive Director. “We are focused on providing every community along our planned route the latest information about the high-speed rail project – a system that will provide Californian’s with a cheaper, faster, safer and more convenient way to travel within our state.”

Visitors are welcome throughout the open houses to learn more about California’s high-speed train system. Representatives will be on-site throughout the open houses to provide information and answer questions about the routes options, stations proposals, the environmental process, upcoming technical studies and the connections to the state’s other metropolitan cities that the California’s high-speed rail system will provide.

“The San Gabriel Valley cities have voiced their concerns about potential impacts to their communities and I appreciate that the California High-Speed Rail Authority is listening to these concerns by hosting two community open houses.  It is important for residents to come out and learn more about this project and share their opinions.  The Authority needs the input and ideas from San Gabriel Valley residents at this early stage of development,” said Assemblymember Mike Eng (D-Monterey Park), 49th District.

The high-speed rail segment from Los Angeles to San Diego via the Inland Empire is slated for the second phase of the project. It is anticipated that the environmental review could be complete in 2013, with construction dates to be established based upon available funding. The community open houses are part of the Preliminary Alternative Analysis phase of the California high-speed train project. During this process, the Authority will study various possible route options to connect Los Angeles, San Diego and the Inland Empire.

The Rosemead and Alhambra Community Open Houses will offer visitors the opportunity to view maps, proposed station locations and design concepts, the environmental and project development process and preliminary schedule concepts. Visitors are encouraged to ask questions and discuss the project with CHSRA representatives.

Spanish-language interpreters will be present throughout the forums. Requests for hearing impaired accommodations can be made by contacting cahighspeedtrain@arellanoassociates.com.
